Endowment Association
Kansas Alpha Endowment Association
In the 1960s, Brothers Larry Winn, Tom Higgins, and Franny Franklin spearheaded the creation of the Kansas Alpha Endowment Association. They were active in keeping the Chapter, then on Indiana St., on solid financial footing going forward with a vision for its future needs. Ground for the current Chapter was purchased for $35K and the House was built in 1964 on West 15th. With the help of John Ward, John Brown, and others as benefactors and fundraisers, major improvements were made to the Chapter in the 1990s that led to the successful Endowment Capital Campaign in the early 2000s.
The Endowment Association is comprised of an Alumni Board of Directors that exists to support the underclassmen by providing scholarships as well as assisting the Housing Corporation fundraising activity. Annually, the Endowment awards approximately $30,000 in merit-based as well as need-based scholarships for the members of the fraternity. Additionally, the Board Members have assisted the Housing Corporation in fundraising for brick-and-mortar capital campaigns. The entirety of the Endowment has been the result of alumni generosity and continues to require donations to fulfill its stated mission of providing educational assistance where needed.
